Our programs are immersive, in-depth and, designed to establish a foundation of core knowledge prior to implementing methodology. We’ve assembled our courses around experienced instructors, small groups, and the storied waters around Kemmerer. Whether you have never held a rod or you are ready to advance to the next level in this sport, we meet you where you are and get you targeting trophy fish with confidence.
Fundamentals
Three day course
A three day course hybrid consisting of classroom instruction and experience on the water. We designed this course to start new anglers out on the ground level with a strong foundation of knowledge prior to taking the field. In this immersive learning experience, students will study the history and culture surrounding fly fishing, the entomology the sport is tethered to, the mechanics of casting & maintaining line, how to read water like the pros, and how to properly and responsibly handle fish.
Itinerary
Arrive to Kemmerer and check in at your lodging station the afternoon or evening prior to your first day of class. Arrive to the learning center on the first day before 8AM. Class will begin at 8AM and will end between 3:30-4:00PM. Day two will be a duplicate of day one, with class starting at 8AM. On day three, class will begin at 8AM and end between 2:00-3:00PM.

Applied Fundamentals
Five day course
This featured add-on to our Fundamentals course serves to apply a student’s newly obtained knowledge directly to action in the field. Where the waders meet the water – students will meet their instructors on location and spend two days targeting fish under the mentorship of the WWFFS staff and educators.
Ready to refine your game? This module focuses on advanced casting techniques, hatch matching, and smart wading strategy. We help you read subtle currents, adjust your presentation, and put more fish in the net on tougher days.

Refresher
single day course
An effective “must-have” to start the season with might. Alumni use this course to review theory, tactics and, field practice in this single day lesson to shake the rust of winter off and return to the sport with confidence.
Itinerary
Day begins at 8AM by meeting the instructor at the venue. Course review held in a field setting, with classroom theory covered on the river bank, prior to applying skills in the water.

Advanced Courses
Spey
single day course
Learn the art of two-handed casting and the technique of targetting large, predacious fish on the swing. The preferred method of most steelheaders and salmon hunters, this subsect of the sport branches into a number of different methodologies. Learn the history of Spey, the gear, the flies, and the practice. This course is a classroom and field hybrid, with additional field days available for alumni.
Itinerary
Course start at 8AM with classroom portion ending at lunch. After lunch, apply tactics in the field. End time between 3:30-4:30PM

single day course
Learn to manipulate the boat and row like the pros. This single day clinic is designed as an introductory to boat handling and drift control.

Meet your instructor at the venue at 8AM. Classes duration is a full-day, typically ranging between 5-7 hours.

Single Day Course
Learn the finer details of this sport by mastering specificity. This introductory fly tying course covers basic material handling, application and, finishing.

Stillwater
Two day course
All things Chironomids and how they are utilized to target large lake dwelling Trout. This introductory course in stillwater tactics is split between a single day of classroom theory and a single day of direct instruction on the water. Learn about the unique bug cycles of stillwater bodies, the different boat setups and equipment, rods & rigs appropriate for this faction of the sport, and how to manipulate you boat for the best result.
